Flint Hills Ranch Tours

Our Ranch Tours fill about an hour and a half to two hours.  We spend some detailed time on the horses and their training, the cattle and livestock husbandry, ranching and land management, historical and modern ranching, and the geology, seasons and wildlife of the Flint Hills.  We can customize your tour to spend more time on any area that may be of particular interest to you and your group.

Our Ranch Tours are by appointment only. We specialize in group tours with a charge of $10.00 per person, minimum size of 15 people.   We will consider smaller groups or families for a minimum charge of $150.00.

Our ranch is just fifteen minutes SW of Council Grove with it's many historical shops, The Hays House Restaurant, Cottage House Motel, and many unique and personable shops.  We are just thirty minutes NW of Cottonwood Falls which has the Historic Courthouse, The Grand Central Hotel and Restaurant, and many shops dedicated to the Flint Hills and Western way of life.  The Tallgrass Prarie National Park, just twenty minutes south of us, has several tours which offer distinctly different information, but which compliment ours.

  • Take home a Taste of the Flint Hills

Remember your trip with a book of the original poetry by Rose, Prairie Poems and Thoughts From the Flint Hills.

Or, take home one of Kent's horseshoe creations that are created from horsehoes that have roamed the Flint Hills on the hooves of their cowhorses.

Dear Rose & Kent,

We want to Thank You for all you did for us on our recent Elderhostel visit to your ranch.  You were such a gracious hostess and host.  The visit was special because your operation was different than those which had been previously described to us.  No one else mentioned the use of bromegrass and a haying operation.  Kent's presentation on animal health was also unique and very interesting.  You did so many things, I hope I don't forget something.  We thoroughly enjoyed your discussion of ranch life and activities, your demonstration of horsewomanship, your pictures of the ranch and the fires, your fine poetry, and last of all the horsehoes.

You two are special.  We hope you will be very successful in your production of the beef we all need.

  Sincerely,

Bob & Nancy Sorensen
